The main researches are as following:

1.Microbial symbionts of Coleopterans and Lepidopterans. This work involves interactions between pest insects, their gut microbial symbionts, and the plants they feed on. Insects that my lab has studied in this system include: Anoplophora glabripennis (native to China), Spodoptera frugiperda, and Helicoverpa zea.

2.Pheromones produced by Anoplophora glabripennis. This includes a male-produced pheromone that is attractive to virgin females and is being used for trapping in the U.S. and a female-produced trail pheromone that is used by males to follow receptive (sexually mature) females on their large host trees.
